Brick Wall

I so love the brick wall embossing folder.  Today's card is using the brick wall embossing folder and white embossing powder.  This card was a favorite in my technique class this month.  Sorry if you missed it.  The ladies loved all the different ways we used the brick wall embossing folder.

This first picture shows the card.  Doesn't the brick wall look like real white brick?  I just love the texture of it. The flowers, leaves and saying are from Birthday Blossoms found on page 8 of main catalog.
The Pansy Punch coordinates with this stamp set.

Here is a closer look at the texture.  We ran it through the Big Shot with the brick wall embossing folder.  Then we put versa mark ink on the entire front.  Sprinkled white embossing powder on it and heat set it.  Then we repeated that process.  This is how it turned out.  The card stock we used was So Safran.  Just that little bit of light yellow showing through was perfect.

Dinosaurs!!!!

No who does not love dinosaurs?  I just loved this set when I first went through the catalog.  It is such a great stamp set.  You do not have to have children, grandchildren to love this set.  You can have friends who are getting old and feel like they are old enough to be historic.  This set is easy peasy to use.  No coloring involved. You get sold dinosaurs and the skeleton of each of them.  Plus birthday hat, couple of leaves and dinosaur foot prints.  I know I am going to have fun with this set.  I hope you signed up for my class this Saturday.  Because we are making a card with this stamp set and x-rays!  Are you intrigued?  It is very cute and so appropriate for so many things friends and relatives go through.  Contact me ASAP.  Place your order for this stamp set by going over to the Stampin Up logo on the right side of this paper.  Come on you can do it.  I know you can.  You are not so ancient that you cannot order it.  Janice

Ribbon and DSP Share

I offered a Ribbon and DSP Share this year.  I will say it was fun to see all of the DSP at once.  I enjoyed getting it all too.  It is so much better in person than in the catalog.  Pictures just do not do justice for anything.   Here is one of the packages that Vera is getting.  She got it all.  Every DSP including the Color Collections (neutrals and regals are on backorder but should be here early July).  She also got 3 new style of ribbon.  I wrapped each color separately so it would be easy to use.  I hope she and everyone else that got theirs are enjoying all the fun stuff.

This past week has been a little tough.  Those of you that have been to my house know my dog, Gizmo.  We had to put Gizmo down a week ago.  Gizmo was 15 years old and had a great life.  My husband and I have been knowing it was coming for over a year.  But the last 2 weeks Gizmo showed us signs that it was time.  So Gizmo will no longer be barking to greet you or laying on the floor and not moving when you needed her to.  She also won't be able to be blamed for farting.  haha  We still have Velvet, who is 14 years old.  She will greet you quietly.  Velvet seems to be doing just fine.  I think Velvet knew it was time for Gizmo.  Velvet no longer has to take care of Gizmo by washing her eyes or making sure she comes inside.  Velvet now gets all the treats and does not have to share much.  Our two cats are also doing fine.  They entertain us every day.  Thank you all for being so kind to Gizmo for all these years.  She was definitely loved.  Janice

New Class starting

I have decided to start a new card class.  So I am going to start it this Saturday, June 27th from 9-11:30am.  I will have 5 cards designed for you.  You will make each design twice.  That way you have one to keep for yourself and one to send to someone.  The cost of the class is $15 or FREE if you order that Saturday $20 of product.  So how can you go wrong with this class?????  I have 2 ladies signed up so far.  2 other ladies are talking about it.  The class size will be no more than 8.  I want these cards to be cards that you can whip up quickly and reproduce over and over.  So contact me ASAP to save a spot.

Here is a card I think could have gone into a card for this new class, but I will be doing different cards at the card class.  This is a card I made for my Hostess Club members to do this month.  Every one of them said they loved the new brick wall embossing folder.  I'm telling you that is a folder I have been waiting for.  Now that it is here I will be using it often.

This card is made on Very Vanilla, then chocolate chip, then another very vanilla.  You stamp the images first.  I had them using Crumb Cake marker on the branches and Chocolate Chip on the birds.  Then huff it and stamp it.  Used the same technique with the flowers.  Used Crumb Cake and Calypso Coral markers.  Then they used Crumb Cake and daubers lightly on the open space.  Last they put it through the embossing folder and Big Shot.  It really is easy and can be used with many different stamp sets.  I chose Serene Silhouettes found on page 109 in the main catalog.

Open House Make and Take

This was the make and take I had for people at my Open House/Rubber Rummage Sale.  I sold lots!!!!!  I went from 4 big bins down to 1 medium size bin.  Ahhhhhhh  Now I have more room for more stamps and more DSP.    Thank you to everyone that came.  Everybody seemed to have fun and get lots of great bargains on retired items.

OK now on to the card.  This card was made with Bermuda Bay cardstock as the base.  A layer of Whisper White cardstock.  I cut a strip of the Bohemian DSP to put a little color on the one side.  I love that paper.  It is so vibrant and adds such pizzazz to everything.  I then stamped the Have a Beautiful birthday saying in Rich Razzleberry ink.  That stamp set is a really nice set I just got.  It is called Birthday Blossoms on page 8 of the main catalog.

Now on to the butterfly.  Watercolor Wings is a stamp set that is a MUST have.  You can make so many beautiful butterflies and so easily!!!  So this is how it works.  You stamp the solid image first (I have found stamping off the ink once makes it softer).  Next you take the middle of the wings stamp and stamp that on top of the Delightful Dijon butterfly (full strength).  Third you take the outline of the butterfly and stamp it in Rich Razzleberry on top of the Delightful Dijon butterfly (again full strength).  Last you take the body of the butterfly and ink it with black or I used Rich Razzleberry again.  The trick for where to position his body is to put the top 1/3 of it in the middle of the wings.  Otherwise you might end up cutting off his head.  Yikes. Then to cut the butterfly out you use the Bold butterfly Framelits Die!  So easy.

This comes in a bundle.  So make sure you do the bundle to get 15% off.  140232 - $36.50  So this set has the larger butterfly that I use but it also has a slightly smaller one too.  It has all the same kind of stamps so you can do the same effect.  Now I did not take a picture of the inside of my card but I made a smaller butterfly but than cut it out with the other butterfly die from the framelit so it has lots of areas cut out.  It turned out too cute for words.

So go over to the right side of my blog here and click on the Stampin' Up logo and it will take you so you can shop.

Look on the Bright Side

Every cloud has a silver lining if you look up.   I love that saying.  So many times we all feel like life is just not going the way we want it to.  Well take a few moments and breathe.  Even in the darkest clouds you can find some good.  I am still learning how to remember that this too will pass.
Here is my version of the clouds from Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set.
I used Silver Embossing Powder to make the clouds.  Then I used the Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details for some of the raindrops.  Then I punched other raindrops out of Soft Sky cardstock and added crystal effects on them.  The picture does not do it justice.

I don't know if I have told you how much I love the banner punch SU came out with this year.  But I do LOVE it.  I always had trouble, along with my customers, in getting that banner to be as equal as possible.  Now I can do it easily.  Janice

Basket of Apples

I found someone who cleverly came up with how to make a basket of apples from the Tree Builder Punch and Ronald McDonald House Charities Stamp Set Sprinkles of Life.  I thought it was quite clever.
The basket is the basket stamp in the stamp set.  Then I stamped the candle twice and cut off the flame and used those as the handles of the basket.  When I was cutting the basket I cut a little extra at the bottom so my basket was a little taller.  As I am thinking right now, I am wondering if I could stamp two baskets on top of each other and make it a much taller basket?  I am going to have to try that.  I punched the apples out of scraps of Rose Red cardstock.  Then added a little white gel pen to give it a little extra to make it look even more like apples.
I did not take a picture of the inside of the card.  But it has an apple tree.  So my customers that took the class got to use this stamp set in many different ways.
I also use the apple stamp to make the background paper.  It just helped to bring the color out farther.  I also love the new Washi Label Punch.  I love the little torn edge.  Janice

Funny Card

OK  So this card I just could not resist to make.  I saw it made with the word SERIOUSLY on the front but decided I needed to change it.

OH NO
SHIT HAPPENS

Love how this turned out.  How to use the cone and ice cream upside down!  Too funny.  My customers laughed and said they new exactly who they were going to send this card to.  The new Mint Macaron incolor made a great chocolate chip mint ice cream.  Pink Piourette made strawberry and of course Chocolate Chip makes great chocolate ice cream.  Just be careful and don't drop yours.............  Janice

Sprinkles of Life

Sprinkles of Life is such a fun set.  This morning is my product class.  They each bought the stamp set and punch to go with it.  So those are sitting on my dining room table waiting for their new owners to come and play with them.

Here is one card we will be making.  I got this card from Becky Roberts.  I think she used Melon Mambo.  I decided to use Real Red since I had the ribbon to match.
Love this cupcake.  Makes me want to make cupcakes even if it is nobody's birthday.  I love the white circles added to the paper before running it through the Big Shot with the dots.  That just looks so awesome.  I've talked about the Royal Kids Camp that my friend Joyce and her husband, Jim, run every summer and how they have a Birthday Bash Day for all the kids.  Well I found a few extra bows in different colors so I cut extra cardstock in those colors and are going to ask my customers at class this morning to make those extra ones for me to add to the pile of birthday cards we are making for the Royal Kids Camp.  This is such an easy card to make for anybody.  It is good for an adult.  It is good for a child.  It is good for boys or girls.  It is just an awesome card.  So go ahead and CASE it.  I did.  Thanks Becky Roberts for sharing so I could also share it with my followers.  Janice

Butterfly Basics

This card is so sweet and simple.  I love it.  I think it is one of those cards I will use often and just switch up the colors.  Today I used Pink Pirouette, Watermelon Wash, Wild Wasabi, and Garden Green.  I colored the Pink Pirouette in with my marker on the flower then went over the areas that I wanted to be darker with the Watermelon Wash.  Then I went back over all of the flower with the Pink Pirouette marker.  It really worked well.  I took that idea from my blendabilities experience.  Oh how I miss those.  But gotta make them perfect.  SU is a company of greatness.  Gotta love it.  Janice

Catalog Spiral Bound

Today I took two of my catalogs in to have them spiral bound.  This year I decided I would like to have some quick reference tabs on the side to help me find some of the items I tend to go to often but cannot find them.  Since all the word sets are not in the same place and I don't always think of certain stamp sets the same way as Stampin' Up I have a difficult time finding things in the catalog.  Well this year I put 7 tabs on it.    My tabs are Kids Stamps, Nature, Background, Colors, Washi Tape and Ribbons, Punches and Big Shot.  I think this should help me find things a little faster.  My choices at the store were 5 tabs or 8 tabs.  Well of course I had selected 7 tabs and could not decide what other tab to insert so I just said put the 7 in and I will have an extra to throw away.  No big deal.  I got the main things I wanted to be on the tabs.  I also have a label maker that I put a label of Janice's copy on the front of the catalog just under the striped tin.  I have 2 catalogs that are mine.  I leave one by my computer and the other one stays downstairs for me to use with my customers and when I am sitting in the living room dreaming of what I am going to order or use for certain classes, etc.  Because I only had 2 done the guy did them while I waited.  It was great to get to take them home right away.  I cannot stand not having MY catalog at my fingertips.  Janice

Spring is here

The birds have been busy building their nests.  We have a number of places the birds come back to year after year.  Last week I enjoyed watching a few Robins pulling up worms out of our backyard.  They did it with me right there.  I was surprised they stayed with me so close.  I guess they were hungry.

This card I am doing with in my 4 card classes this month.  The first one was on Saturday and the first thing my customers said was "Another Bow".  They discovered it really was not difficult.  I took the Soft Sky binding ribbon and looped it a few times.  I tied the middle with bakers twine.  Then added the button on top and it looks fantastic.  They ended up liking it.

This card is CASE from Elizabeth Gross.  I saw this and just loved the softness of it.  In the circle with the birds and their nest I stamped it lightly with the wood grain stamp first.  Then sponged it with soft sky.  Stamped the birds in Early Espresso.  Added the Garden Green leaves.  I am not sure I like how many of the sequins I used.  Everybody in class did different amounts.  I love that everyone has their own idea of what works.  What do you think?  Janice

Paper Pumpkin

I loved my paper pumpkin this past month.  Birthdays are always fun to celebrate (no matter how old you are).  I loved the bag we got to make.  I will take a picture of that and share that with you in the future.  Today I am sharing how I changed my card.

I love that the stamp set included these cute balloons and string.  Next time I will stamp the string on separately.  I tried to put the balloon and string stamp together and stamp it.  There was just enough of a edge that it left a space.  But anyway you get the idea.  I also loved the happy birthday.  Love the font and the squiggles.  Now this was using my scraps left over.  I did make the card once the way SU planned it.  I tend to do one that way and then have fun trying to come up with other ways without using much extra.

If you are not getting the Paper Pumpkin you should consider it.  Go over to the Stampin Up logo on the right side of my blog and click on that.  Go into the search and type in Paper Pumpkin.  It is so much fun to get a box that is a surprise every month right around the middle of the month.  Even if you do not want to make what SU has suggested you can use the items to make other things.  I find that I like majority of the projects/cards but I like to be unique so I do my own thing.  I would love to have you join my group and show us what you make with your Paper Pumpkin.  You can stop the subscription any time.  Try it for 3 months and see what you think.  It is another way to get more special stamps that you cannot get in the catalog.  I have a great collection going.  I won't give them up.  I use them frequently.  Janice

You've Got This

Ok so I had the last 3 days off and really enjoyed it.  I think I should be able to retire from my day job and just stay home and stamp and stamp and stamp.  It was such a wonderfully relaxing 3 days for me.  I got so much stamping done that I am going to have some nice sharing to do with you for the next few weeks.  The even better news is I took off next week a few days too.  Shhhhh  I just need some stamping time.  This will make me a much more pleasant boss at my day job.  I do love my day job.  And more importantly my family needs the health insurance so I will be keeping that day job for a few more years.

This card is made using the new Bohemian Designer Series Paper.  I love the vibrant colors in it.  I used Blackberry Bliss, Delightful Dijon and Old Olive as my colors for the flower.  That bit of Tempting Turquoise in the DSP just pops everything.  After I colored the flower in with the Blackberry Bliss marker I added the white chalk marker to show the outline of the petals more.  You could also have used white embossing powder on the flower to give more definition of the petals. I like to make my cards simple for customers to duplicate it easily.  I hope you will make yourself one and let me know what colors you used.

I did CASE this card from Connie Babbert.  I saw her card on Pinetrest.  She used more soft colors.  I wanted my flower to be vibrant.  So do you think I succeeded?  Little comments make my day.  Janice

Card Class this Saturday

Here is a quick peek at my card class cards for this month.  The first class is this Saturday, June 6th at 9am.  Contact me if you are interested in coming.  I do have a few extras cut for later in the month so I can squeeze you in.  You will have fun.

This class is also offered the 4th Wednesday of the month at 9am and again at 2pm.  I have so many customers that don't want to miss this class that I have expanded to offer it 3 times during the month.  Just let me know you are going to attend.

As I sit here posting this I can hear the birds chirping away in the tree right outside of the window.  My cat, Squee, loves to sit in the window and talk to those birds.  I wish I knew what he was saying and what the birds thought of him.......  So my cards this month are related to birds and flowers.  I am loving the new in colors.  Especially the dotted lace trim (ribbon).  It is beeeeautiful!!!!!!!!!  Hope you enjoy these cards enough to come to my class.  See ya soon.  Janice

My two favorite items that I just had to have are:

I already have the You've Got This stamp set, which we will be using in my card class this month.

The Brick Wall Textured Embossing Folder I have been wanting SU to have one for a year or two.  I am so excited.  I see Christmas Stockings hanging from it.  And a beautiful flower bed with a beautiful brick border around it.  I cannot wait to see what you come up with, too.
