Teacher Gift

Here is a cute way to give your cards as a gift.  I think this would make a great teacher gift.  Also the Mother In Law that is hard to find a gift for.  It is quite easy to make.  I love the handles.  I made those out of the chevron ribbon SU sells until June 2nd!  I added the brads to keep it in place and hold well.  I then used extra pieces of the same DSP to make simple cards for 3 different occasions.  I used both sides of the DSP.  The inside of the bag is the pistachio pudding design.

I'm looking forward to making lots of these for Christmas gifts.  If you are interested in a class contact me.  I would be happy to share how to make these.

Birthday Card Today

So recently I showed you a birthday card I made for the Royal Kids Birthday Bash.  Today I made another very simple and fun card.
This card is using 4 colors - Crisp Cantaloupe, Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise and Wild Wasabi.

I used the leaves stamp from the Stamp Set "Sheltering Trees".  I stamped each color full strength and then each color again without re inking.  That way I could spread it out more.  Now how simple is that.............  What color combinations will you use?  I would love to hear and see what you do. Butterflies

This one is using Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant ink and cardstock.  The butterfly is cut out with a framelit.  You just gotta have this framelit.

The card below is the same layout but using Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette ink and cardstock.

So which color combo do you like best?

Birthday Card

One of my friends works at the Royal Families Camp every summer.  She and her husband are one of the leaders here in town.  Royal Families are kids that have special needs.  They provide them with a week of camp.  Which includes a birthday bash.  So I am making (along with my customers) 40 birthday cards for the kids.  I think it is a great idea to let each of these kids feel special and get a great birthday celebration.  So today you are seeing one of the cards I made for one of the lucky kids.

I have loved the owl since the day that punch was available. I know my friend Ann loves it too!  Right Ann?  I chose DSP that would go well together.  SU has great designer series paper packages.  I tend to use what
they have already researched for me to use together.    Again it is important to not fret and instead let others make decisions for what you will stamp, colors to use, and what design to use.  Copy.  You do not have to be an artist.

So what do you think of this card?  Will the person love it?  Janice

Copy copy copy

Again this is one I copied almost completely.  Only one small thing different.  My customers loved this card.  I loved it too.  I could not think of changing much so here it is.
This stamp set is one of the monthly stamp sets that SU comes out with.  Check my web page for more information on new stamps, items on sale, etc.  stampinup.com  Janice

Wisteria Wonder

I love this card.  The Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant together are so beautiful.  This is another card I copied from Pinterest.  That one was using browns.  I changed up the colors but otherwise it is basically the same.  The dots are one stamp that make all those dots.  I stamped the Wisteria Wonder lower than I did the Elegant Eggplant.    I did that so I would not overlap too much and lose the effect of all those dots.

Sorry I gotta go.  My UPS man dropped a box off for me late yesterday afternoon.  I got up early to post this.  But now I gotta go play.  Maybe I will post something later.  But not promising since when I get stamping I don't keep track of time well.  And today I want to stamp my heart away.  I promise to post something in the next couple of days.   Janice

Copying is recommended

This month I am trying to show you how it is okay to copy somebody's card.  You can copy it completely or you can copy the idea and change out the color, add a different ribbon, add a button, etc.  It is really an honor in my book when someone copy's my stamping projects.  I tell my kids at school when they get upset because someone is copying them, that means you are doing something they think is great.  Be proud of the fact that they want to be like you.  The same goes for making craft things.  Be proud.  As you start copying you will start feeling more comfortable to change something.  If you think I knew how to do all of this stamping before I became a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I better have a heart to heart talk with you.  Because I am not perfect.  I do not know everything about everything.  I do my best to keep learning.  I hope I never stop learning.  I love to experiment with new things.  Which reminds me because I am a SU demonstrator I get a few special privileges.  One is that I get to order from the new catalog a month ahead of customers.  Oh yeah.  That is so much fun.  So we do not get to order everything from the new catalog (but I am going to want everything from the new catalog!).  There are sneak peek  items.  Mine will be coming tomorrow night!  So I will be busy Wednesday stamping and stamping and stamping oh yeah and smiling and smiling and smiling.  If you want to get in on the fun of being a SU demonstrator as a hobbyist or to hold classes or to get things at a discount or you want to make it a business adventure for yourself, then go to my SU web page and click on join my family.  It is $99 to join.  You get to choose $125 of product of your choice!  Then in the next 45 days you can order again and get 30% off any items you or your friends, family members or customers order!  So head on over to stampinup.com click on find a demonstrator Janice Borchart and you will get my web page.  I would love to have you on my team.

Okay back to copying.  Here is the card I posted last week.  I told you I would find out what her name is.  She is Tara Jeffries from Fergus Falls, MN.  I got this card as a swap when I was at a SU event for others that are in my SU family.
So next I am going to show you my version of her card.
Do you see how I copied her layout.  I used the same size of layered cardstock.  I stamped in a little different colors that she did.  I even copied the squiggle lines and daubering the edges.  I know my customers would have a hard time making the banner cut look even, so I decided to change it to be a rectangle.  I used a hostess stamp set that will no longer be available next month.  It is a polymer stamp so we could put the words in the frame by stretching the frame a little.  She had her butterfly on the right side and I decided mine it should be on the left side.  I added the ribbon but have it going down the card.

So do you see how copying and changing a little bit can make it your own?  If you are interested in coming to my card class to do this card, contact me.  I will be having this class again on Wednesday, May 27th at 9am and again at 2pm.  The cost is $10.  Make sure you RSVP 48 hours ahead of time so I am sure to have space for you.

4 Card Class

Saturday's class was fun.  The ladies did a great job making the cards.  All 4 cards were very different.  Here is one of them.
This card I made to show my ladies how they can make a simple card with DSP.  This card was simple to make.  The Crisp Cantaloupe DSP (which is retiring in a few short weeks) is 4"x3 3/4".  The I cut the 3 3/4" to break it apart.  So you can make it any size you want.  I made this one very simple.  But you could also use an edge punch on the two sides that show on the white.  Again simple but adds a little more to it.

I made another sample to show them how using the same layout you can make it look totally different.
This one I did the same with the painted petals DSP.  When I was stamping the saying on the white piece it smeared so instead I stamped it on an piece of white and punched it out using the tag punch in the occasions catalog.  Popped it with dimensionals and added a bow to give it the extra.  Again clean and simple.  I love this layout and feel it is a great way to use up those last few pieces of DSP that you don't know what to do with.  Try it and let me see what you do.  Janice

Masculine Card

This is another tri fold card.  The ladies loved making this one because it is not always easy to find masculine cards.  Well this one definitely is.  I love the train.  It reminds me of my childhood.  My grandfather worked on the trains.  So trains always bring a smile to my face because I loved my grandfather so much.  He was a hard working man.  But so kind and gentle.  I hope you have fond memories of your grandfather.  Janice

Cute Critters

OK I love the cute critters.  I see them as standing behind a fence or wall and putting their signs up high.  So I had to create a card doing just that.  This is what I came up with.
It is another tri fold card.  I used the Adventure Bound DSP.  I cut the brick pattern to make a wall.  Added some flowers to each side.  Then the cute critter folds up to look over the brick wall.  When you open the card he then goes to the top of the card.  I would have really liked to put two of the critters next to each other and wrote Happy Spring.  But it got to crowded so I had to opt for just one and say Hooray.  Those little Critters are going to be gone soon.  Make sure you place your order today so you do not miss out on getting them.  stampinup.com  Find me as your demonstrator and you will have an easy time ordering.  All of what you order will come directly to your door.  Have a super fantastic day.  Janice

Trifold card

Here is another tri fold card we did at Technique Geeks this past weekend.
So yesterday's card showed you how the tri fold opened up.  This one opens to the side.  We used DSP so the beautiful paper is shown inside and out.  It was a card that many of the customers said it inspired them to make some more at home.  Yes that is what I like to hear.  I love when my customers make cards at home also.  We also used the brads that you put the candy dots on.  I don't know why I have not been using those.  It was a great addition to this card.  I did not take a picture of this but the piece of yellow and white paper that we cut the flower shape out of the front, we used on the inside and stamped on it to say Hello.  It was a great way to use the lines in a different way.  I cannot wait to see what everyone else does with other DSP.  Janice

Tri fold Techinque Geeks Class

This weekend was a fun technique Geek Class.  I showed the ladies how to make a tri fold card in 4 slightly different ways.  The Herd Stamp Set is one of my favorite stamp sets.  I think it is because I never color the animals their normal colors.  I love that I can color them blue or red or whatever I feel like.  This card I colored in Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana and some browns, etc.  It was so fun.  The card opens up and the animals flip down and then up at the top of the open card.  It is a WOW card.  Hope you like it.

Don't forget to place an order before the Occasions Catalog is gone.  Items are only available until they are gone.  June 2nd the new catalog will be ready for us!!!!  stampinup.com  Then press find demonstrator.  Then press Demonstrator Directory.  Type in my name (Janice Borchart) and it will take you to my website for you to get ideas, see what is on sale, specials, and of course shop.  Janice
