Specials going on at Stampin' Up

To see all the specials and to place an order click on createwithjanice.stampinup.net.  This will take you directly to my website for Stampin' Up.

Today is the last day to order 3 packages of designer series paper and get the 4th package free.  Hurry and do it today.

Have you heard about the Paper Pumpkin?  It is a special gift that comes to your front door once a month.  the first month you get a clear block to use with the stamp set you get in the first kit and for future kits.  I made my first kit cards while I was waiting in the waiting room for my husband to have a minor surgery done.  It took me a half hour to stamp them.  It was so much fun.  Everything you need is in the kit (except your favorite adhesive).  I made 4 cards and just changed them up a little.

Did I tell you that you get step by step instructions?  And buttons, rhinestones, etc. that you need to make the cards!!!!!  Some of the circles and scalloped edges are like stickers (but much nicer).  And you can use the stamp set over and over on other cards.

Then the one I had the most fun with was the kit using hexagons!  I used 3 extra pieces of whisper white cardstock and not only got to make the 4 cards the kit suggested but added 6 more cards!

The Paper Pumpkin is a great idea for the person who does not have time to stamp.  They can whip these cards up in no time.  It is usually less than a half an hour!!!  What a great gift that keeps on giving all year round.  Right now Stampin' Up is offering the first 2 months for $10 each.  When ordering put in the promo code PUMPKINDEAL to get the first 2 months for $10 each.  Then the future months are $19.95.  You can cancel at any time.  Just put your order in by the 10th and you will have your first kit around the 15th of each month.  Do this on my SU website.  Use the link I provided you at the top of this post.

If anyone is interested I would be happy to spend time together making each month's kit together.  Janice

Technique Geeks

Back for the third technique?  I knew you would want to see it too.

This one is called "Rays of Light".  Instead of doing sun rays in the sky, I choose to do the sun rays going through the water.  You know I just cannot keep my hands off of the stamp set "By the Tide".  Those fish are swimming around and even making air bubbles.

I cannot wait to share this fun class with you.  Take time to RSVP and come stamp with me on Saturday, August 3rd at 8:30am for only $15.  I look forward to seeing you.  Janice

Technique Geeks

As I promised yesterday, I would show you the second technique we will be doing at my class on Saturday, August 3rd at 8:30am for $15.  Remember to sign up so I am sure to have room for you.

Ok if you are like me you love ribbon......  I am always wanting ribbon on cards.  Well this technique is "Embossing Ribbon".  I did not believe it until I really tried it.  It is so much fun and adds texture to your cards.

I also love this stamp set Perfect Blend (page 37 main catalog).  If you love coffee you gotta have this.  If you know somebody that could not function without their coffee this makes a great card for them.

Are you tempted yet to come to the class?  Well tomorrow will be the third technique.  So see ya tomorrow.

Technique Geeks

Do you look for techniques to do on your cards?  Do you try to figure out how someone did that?  Do you print out ideas to try?  And then never get around to trying it?  Well I have a new class I am doing.  It is for all of us that are "Technique Geeks".  My first one will be held next Saturday, August 3rd starting at 8:30am.  We will be done by noon, so you can plan to do other things or go home and stamp some more.

This is one card you will be making.  The technique is "Smackin' Acetate".  You will love doing this technique and use it over and over with different colors and in different ways.  As you can see you will get a quarter piece of cardstock that will have the directions on it and a sample of it on top.  It also has a hole punched in the upper left corner so you will put it on a ring to have forever and ever to refer back to.  I do have another card using this technique but you will have to come to the class to see it......

Check back tomorrow for the second technique we will be doing.  Check in on Tuesday to see the third technique!  Yes 3 techniques in one class.  For only $15.  You will go home with 4 cards made and 3 technique instruction cards.  RSVP by Thursday to reserve a spot.  Janice

Bows Bows and more Bows

I have been playing with a new SU product from the new Holiday Catalog.  If you have not seen it let me know.  I will be happy to send a copy to you.  When I first saw the Gift Bow Bigz L Die (page 37 129977) I did not think I would "need" it........  Oh how wrong I was.  Whoever said first impressions may not be accurate is definitely correct on this one.  I decided not to order it and instead got the "Pretty Presents Designer Bows" instead (page 36 132186).   It is a kit to make 10 bows.  My thought was check out how these bows really are made and see if it is anything I might be interested in.  Well I am definitely interested in this.  They are so easy to assemble.  And with your own designer series paper, it is an endless amount of bows you can make.  You can make a beautiful bow for any occasion.  So my next order will have the Gift Bow Bigz L Die.

Here are the two sizes of bows.  So easy to put together.

Here is another way to do the bow.  This is the larger one.  Notice the rhinestones I added to the center of the bow.  They are going at an angle to follow the striped pattern in the paper.  And who does not like a little sparkle with their bow!!!!!

The bow to the right is the smaller bow that I added a second layer to it to make a double bow.  Now if I had the Gift Bow Bigz L Die I could have made the second layer a different color.........  With endless possibilities again.

To the left are 4 bows I made.  All of them have rhinestones on them.  The green one on the top right has just one rhinestone in the center.  The one on the bottom left has 4 rhinestones.  One in each corner.  The bottom right one I cut out a piece of white cardstock for the middle and added a row of rhinestones down the center.  All of the paper in this package is double sides.  So you can choose which side you want to use.  Very cool........

I hope you enjoyed these bows I made.  My packages this Christmas are going to be extra special.  I can out do my mother in law this year.  She always has such pretty bows.  Well look out.  I am going to have beautiful bows for every present I give.  No matter what the occasion.  Janice

Flower Shop

The card for today has many new items in this year's catalog.
I heat embossed each flower by using my versa mark ink pad and SU embossing powders (page 167).
  • Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango and Tempting Turquoise
  • These embossing powders last forever and are only $4.75 each
I added Candy Dots to the center of each flower (page 171) in Brights Collection (only $5.95 a package).

The yellow gingham is made by using our Gingham Wheel (page 82 - 130110 at $6.50).  If you don't like using wheels you can peel it off the wheel and put it on your clear block and use it as a stamp.  Gingham is the in thing this season.  Don't miss out.

Above the yellow gingham you will see I used the embossing folder Needlepoint Border (page 190 - 129383 at $7.95).  It adds and pulls things together.  Again very easy to use.

Below the yellow gingham is our Adorning Accents Edgelit (page 188 - 125595 at $9.95, you get two different ones in this package).  It is so easy to use with our magnetic platform.

I hope you have signed up to receive my blog every day on your email.  It is an easy way to know when I have posted something new for you to look at and keep up with the trend.  Tell your friends too.  We can do a party and make a few of your favorites.  Or you let me know what stamp set, accessories or tools you want to learn about.  I will be happy to do a party with you at your house or you and your friends can come to my house.  Contact me to set that up.  Janice

Flower Shop

Surprise I am not posting a picture of a lobster or fish........  I have moved back to flowers.  Pansies specifically.  The funny thing is I cannot grow a pansy.  I have tried but I just cannot water them the correct amount.  So now I just go places to see other people's pansies.  They are such a beautiful flower.  The card I am showing you today will be done in my 4 Card Class in August.  I hope you will join us in making this and 3 other cards.

I love that I could use a small piece of our Designer Series Pack to add the chevron on the bottom of the center piece.  It makes it easy and best of all look great.  This card can be made in 10 minutes.  I added a large pearl to the middle of the pansy.  And 4 small pearls to add balance.

The Flower Shop stamp set can be found on page 94 of the main catalog.
wood - $23.95 130939
clear - $17.95 130942
pansy punch - page 183 $15.95 130698 (you just gotta have this)

By the Tide

Ok so I had to play with the fish.  So many of the cards I have seen made with the fish in this set the poor fish is just going straight ahead.  Fish move around.  They jump so let's get real here.  My first card I started out making the fish in different intensities.  I stamped in Early Espresso then stamped him again.  This is known as stamping off.  I stamped off again on my scrap paper and made a third one.   Then I used my daubers to color in a little different color on each one.  Ok so these fish are still going straight across.....  This card made me realize I too was doing the same thing.  So look at the second card!  They are all moving in different ways.  They are all still going in the same direction.  But at least they are swimming their own way.

Swim fish swim.  Keep away from those hooks (unless it is mine).  Have a great day.  Janice

By the Tide

Have you bought By the Tide Stamp Set yet?  What are you waiting for?  Today I am showing you one that is a little more feminine.  The only reason I think of it as feminine is because I used Fancy Fan embossing folder and a few rhinestones for bubbles.  But otherwise you could turn this into a masculine card very easily.
Card stock - Night of Navy, Whisper White and Soft Sky
Inks - Night of Navy, Crushed Curry and Soft Sky
Embossing folder - Fancy Fan page 191 main catalog $7.95 127751

The embossing folders add so much to any card.  I love using them.  They are so easy to use and everyone loves the texture.  I also added the little bit of linen thread to the bottom right corner.  This time I did not mask the seahorse.  I felt the color was dark enough that I could stamp right over the Crushed Curry.

I love the ocean.  So this set is so soothing for me yet exciting.  I enjoyed going to the beach when we lived in California.  It brings back so many great memories.  Take time to share this with your friends and share your memories.  Janice

By the Tide

Yes it is more By the Tide.  This card I made by using a sketch from a group of SU demonstrators I belong to.  I just love the Coastal Cabana color.  I just cannot get enough of that color.  For those of you following my blog you know I love Crisp Cantaloupe.  Well I did not think Crisp Cantaloupe would be bright enough for this card.  And then I realized I had the 3/4" Chevron Ribbon in Calypso Coral.  Ahha  I had the idea that this would work well.  So I laid one layer of the ribbon down and then made 2 loops of it and attached it to the back of the circle and laid that on top.  It is hard to see in the picture but in person it made this card.  I stamped Coastal Cabana ink on the Coastal Cabana card stock.  I masked the sea horse.  The main card is made with Baked Brown Sugar.

This is a simple but beautiful card.  You can make this yourself.  I hope you will try it.  Remember that you can sign up to have every post I do sent to your email.  Just sign up on the right side of my blog with your email address.  Many of my friends love seeing what I have been doing.  You can too.  It has inspired them to stamp more.  Have a great stamping day.  Janice

By the Tide

Today you will see another fun colorful way I used By the Tide.  It is definitely bright.  The few people I have shared it with have all said it is one of their favorites.  Let me know if you think it is your favorite.
Card stock - Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla
Markers -Tempting Turquoise, Cajun Craze, So Safron, Pacific Point and Tangerine Tango

Was I correct when I said it was colorful?  I used my markers to make the wavy lines.  There was not rhyme or reason to where I put what color.  I just put the lightest colors down first randomly.  Then added the other colors as I felt like.  Anybody can do this.  Yes even some of you that think you have no eye for color!

I really want to know what you and your friends think of this.  Send it to your friends and tell me what you think.  Thanks for letting me share my love for stamping with you.  Janice

By the Tide

Good morning!!!  I am up and ready to put a smile on your face.  I wish I could say I caught a lobster and fish! But I did make a great card that has them on it.  While making this card I was not sure if I was going to like it.  By the end it is now one of my favorites.  It just take a little courage to mix colors together.  My last addition to this card was one of our wood buttons with the anchor in it.  Here take a look.
Now what do you think?  I wanted to use different colors.  So I chose Raspberry Ripple, Crushed Curry, Midnight Muse, Baked Brown Sugar and Very Vanilla.  I think it turned out great.  What do you think?  Leave me a comment.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Janice

By the Tide

I started playing with this set "By the Tide" this past weekend.  I got carried away having fun with it.  This week I will try to share many of them.  It lends itself so well to make masculine cards.  I know I find it difficult to have a masculine card available when I need it.  I tend to use them up so fast.  Well this set will help you to have lots of them ready to go.
By the Tide - main catalog page 77
wood - $27.95 131910
clear - $19.95 129120
Card stock - Coastal Cabana, Basic Black and Whisper White
Ink - Coastal Cabana and Stazon Black
Punches - Postage Stamp, 1" circle (than used dauber to color in the edge)
Embossing folder - Chevron page 191 in main catalog

I hope you like it.  I appreciate any comments.  Janice

Flower Shop

OK I found another favorite.  Flower Shop and Pansy Punch!!!!!  When I saw this set I thought another flower..........  I have so many flowers.  Oh was I wrong.  This is a must have.  The flowers in the set are so unique.  There are going to be so many ways to use this set.  I have only just begun playing with it.  Look for more samples coming soon.  Today's is using my favorite color, Crisp Cantaloupe.  I paired it with Tangerine Tango ink.  Then added Baked Brown Sugar ribbon of course.  The DSP I used in the background is from the In Color DSP Stacks found on page 152.  I used one of the Crisp Cantaloupe pieces.  Love these packs.
2013-2015 incolor $21.95 130136
Flower Shop page 94 in the main catalog
Wood Set $23.95 130939
Clear Set $17.95 130942
Pansy Punch page 183 main catalog
$15.95 130698

A little trick I discovered to help you to punch out the flowers easily is mark on your wood block which part of the flower is the top.  Line it up with the punch so that you don't have to guess each time.  If you are like me and get frustrated you will appreciate this trick.  If you buy the clear stamp set.  Just mark the petal that is the top with a sharpie.  Trust me you will be happy you did this.

Fun Fold

I was looking for a different fold for my Hostess Club members to do this month.  Well I find one.  I love it.  It took me awhile to figure it out.  Stamping with Kristeen is where I found it.  She does some awesome crafts. So here is my version of what my Hostess Club will be doing.
It is fun and very moveable.  I used the 25 year birthday set.  Sorry if you are not in my Hostess Club and won't be able to make this with us.  But if you would like to join my Hostess Club contact me and I will tell you how it works and how you too can be making these fun cards.  Janice

Really Good Greetings

As you can see I tend to play with the same stamp set for awhile.  So here is another card using Backyard Basics.  Have you bought it yet?  If you haven't why not?  It is so awesome.  I have played with it for days.  Today I added a phrase from Really Good Greetings.  It says "Everything will be OK, even if we can't see what OK is yet."  I love this phrase.  It is so true.  Sometimes we need to here that it will be OK.  Many times we don't know just when things will work out or how they will work out.  But we need to trust that God will take care of us.  So here is my card.
Simply but does the trick.  This is a great card to send to a friend or relative that is going through tough times.

Really Good Greetings page 38 in the main catalog
Wood Set $18.95 130330
Clear Set $14.95 130333

Hug someone today.  And tell them you care about them.  Hugs from me to you!  Janice

Backyard Basics Again

I know yesterday I showed you a cute card using Backyard Basics but I could not resist showing you another one using that set.  I told you I am in love with that set.  So today's card is using the flower and shading it.  I am not good with names of flowers I only know them as looking beautiful or not.......  This one I added a butterfly.  Now again having the framelit to cut it out so perfect is too good to be true.  I added a few rhinestones to his body just to give him a little extra sparkle.  I used a new item this year that I have been hoping SU would get and that is Candy Dots.  Today I used Smokey Slate ones.  They are so easy to add to any card.  And they just add that extra little something that works on so many cards.
DSP (designer series paper) is Gingham Garden page 153 of main catalog $10.95 129310
By the way did you know that during the month of July SU is running a special buy 3 of the DSP and get the fourth one for FREE!  The DSP is on pages 151, 153 and 154.  Great time to get the DSP you have been eying up.  I know I am taking advantage of this special.

The colors I used were Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Smokey Slate and Whisper White.
Hope you like this card.  Janice

Gotta buzz right along today.  See you again soon.  Janice

Happy July 4th

I am off to the local parade.  It is a very long parade route.  I live at the end of the parade route so people walking the parade are tired by the time they get to us.  But we cheer them on for all their hard work and our country we are so proud of.

This is cased from Yvette (http://yvettespapergarden.files.wordpress.com).  She had it on her blog for Memorial Day.  I changed it by using the pansy punch.  I thought she did an awesome card.  May your day be filled with happiness and may everyone be safe.  Janice

Tea Lace Paper Doilies

Hi My Stamping Friends
Time for another card.  This one is using another one of my favorite colors, Strawberry Slush.  I have already gone through an entire package of Strawberry Slush cardstock.  If you have been at my classes you have used it.  This card is using some new items from the main Stampin' Up catalog.

Tea Lace Paper Doilies - Page 156 main catalog $2.95 129399
Very Vintage Designer Buttons - Page 169 main catalog $5.95 129327
Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape - Page 171 main catalog $4.95 129314
Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper - Page 153 main catalog$10.95 129310
Strawberry Slush cardstock (in color) - Page 141 main catalog $6.95 131295

The Daffodil Delight ribbon was put through the button from the back side.  I think it looks great.  Isn't that Strawberry Slush cardstock just yummy?  The washi tape is the strip across the white circle.  You could use any words on the front.  I used Gold embossing powder for mine.  This card is CASED from my Stampin' Up Success magazine.  I changed the colors and added the ribbon.  You too could get the Stampin' Up Success magazine if you were a demonstrator.  It has great ideas.  I look forward to getting mine.  Contact me to talk more about how you can sign up with me.  Janice
